a persistent material manifester.... the mass for the wool has to come from somewhere then, if i were to guess, she stores a LOT more of the mass from her food to allow her to create the wool, a similar but more specialized method as shape shifting. The MID power ratings are after all about WHAT the powers DO, not how they work as there are multiple ways to achieve similar effects. "shape shifting" would also explain why she can't reabsorb it as its dead matter, and how she removes it, because the follicles are not dead matter.

It does come from somewhere, but not from where you may be thinking. None of the manifestor ratings limit the mass that can be manifested, because the mutant can just go back and do it again and again, and again.

most manifestors produce temporary materials, from echtoplasma, that usually disappear after a certain amount of time, this keeps them from permanently violating the law of conservation of matter and energy, Ewe clearly is using a different mechanism to manifest wool.

edit the most obvious way for her to store the requisite mass is as milk...

the Definition of Manifestor is very liberal in the WU, Technically Lamprey's extra tongues are considered a manifestation, albeit a permanent one.

Yup, she's definitely not manifesting her wool via ectoplasm, but sometimes they just put a power into a category because it seems the closest fit, even if they have no idea how it actually works. Could be from her food, or if could me that she's tapping into some sort other form of energy to fuel it. There are several possibilities.

She pulls it from the wool dimension.

powers testing at the school is going to be interested because she doesn't use the common mechanism

True, there will probably be a few surprises when she gets tested at Whateley.

Ewe: On the Lamb comments
Warning: Spoiler!

Thanks, as always, for your commentary, Dreamer. Rose suggested some of the broad strokes for a background when we were chatting about powers and stuff with some other authors and I mentioned wanting to make a sheep girl. I took that background and wanted to make the readers feel for her, so I made the parents as hateable as possible. I considered giving them redeeming qualities, but I wanted her to really hit rock bottom before finding people who actually care about her, so I went all in on the parents.

I cried a lot while writing this, especially with the scene with her losing the baby. I tried to make the reason for Wolfe frowning and being upset somewhat vague, as well as her phone conversation with Jimmy, leaning into the other form of MCO disappearances, but you were on to it right away ;)

I wanted this to be a tragic story with a sliver at hope at the end, and I hope that came across well. Hopefully things will get better for her, and she'll get the help she needs at Whateley after such a dark beginning to her story. Domoviye figured he was gonna get the blame for this one when most of it was me with help and encouragement from Rosebunny, so he insisted that we put the disclaimer at the start.

*big hugs*

I find it rather ironic that my dragons, who technically really ARE monsters, have better family relationships than some of the humans...

no they aren't, monster is a group of behaviors, and your dragons aren't monsters.

They're big scaly sorta-lizard creatures with big teeth who breathe fire. What more do you need?
