I'm working on my fan fic, and I'm trying to figure out what formula is used to figure the first day of school. I know where I am it's usually X number of days before Labor day.

The Poe Arrival is a week before labor day. Then classes start the day after Labor Day. The remainder of the arrival week is used for testing (both academic as well as powers). Those upperclassmen that don't get drafted to help with this get a chance to refamiliarize themselves with the campus.

Unless you need it for your plot, arrival time isnt that precise. Particularly for foreign students, the exact time (both for Poe and other cottages) can vary. As long as everyone has arrived in time for the mandatory introduction speech.
